Slide Background Distortion Transitions

Every slide in Slider Revolution has a background, usually an image, a video or a color, behind the layers placed on the slide. The Slide Background has its own animations, separate from the animations of the layers.

Layers and backgrounds are animated in the Module Editor. Essentials Mode is one of the two ways to animate them there, where animations are picked from ready-made presets instead of built keyframe by keyframe.

For the slide background, Essentials Mode has three tabs. Transition sets how the slide's background replaces the previous slide's background when the slide changes. Pan & Zoom scales and moves the background image while the slide shows.

Filter adds a visual effect, such as grain or blur, to the background while the transition plays.

The Transition tab has eight categories, split across three articles by what the transition does to the background. This article lists the presets of the Fluid and Distort categories, with what each one does and the settings it offers. In these categories the image itself warps, ripples or stretches.

The Fade, Cut / Reveal and Color categories are in Slide Background Reveal Transitions, and the Slide, Zoom and 3D categories are in Slide Background Motion Transitions.

To find the presets, go to the Module Editor and select the Slide Background, the last row of the Timeline. Then, in the Right Sidebar, click the Animation icon ¹ in the Mode Switcher to enter Animation Mode.

The Transition ², Pan & Zoom and Filter tabs are at the top of the sidebar.

The tabs show while Essentials is chosen with the switch at the bottom of the sidebar.

Applying a preset follows the same steps in every collection, described in Animation Essentials Mode. Clicking a preset tile opens its configuration panel, where its parameters are set before Apply adds the animation to the slide background.

Transition Collection

The Transition collection holds the presets that play when the slide changes to this slide. The new background replaces the previous slide's background using the chosen transition.

The collection has eight categories: Fade, Cut / Reveal, Slide, Zoom, 3D, Fluid, Distort and Color. This article covers Fluid and Distort.

Applying a transition replaces the slide's current transition, including its length. Each preset has its own length, given with the preset, and the configuration panel has no Duration control. A filter set in the Filter tab is kept, as described in Slide Background Filters.

Many presets cut the background into strips, tiles or cells that animate one after another. In these presets, Auto follows the direction of navigation, so the transition runs one way when going to the next slide and the opposite way when going back.

Tiles marked PRO belong to the Transition Pack add-on and show on every site. Applying one installs and activates the add-on for the module first.

Transition Fluid Category

The Fluid category holds presets that ripple and dissolve the change across the slide.

Transition Fluid Dream

The new background is cut into a grid of cells that start rotated, enlarged and moved out of place, and move into position. The grid, order and movement are set by Style.

Get Focus uses 10 by 10 cells from the edges inward, with motion blur. Ripples and Double Ripples use 20 by 20 cells from the center outward, Ripples with motion blur.

Bounced Ripples uses 20 by 20 cells whose size alternates between two and four times, with larger rotations and offsets. Plays for 1000 milliseconds.

Parameters:

Transition Fluid Portal Waves

A circle opens from the center of the slide and grows until it covers the slide, with the new background inside it at its normal size. A texture makes the edge of the circle uneven.

Across the soft edge, both backgrounds stretch out from the center of the slide. Light, Medium, Strong and Zoom Over set the width of the edge and the texture it follows.

Parameters:

Transition Fluid Pattern Swipes

The tile is marked PRO. It belongs to the Transition Pack add-on. Applying it installs and activates the Transition Pack for the module first, and on a site where Slider Revolution is not registered it asks for registration. Plays for 2000 milliseconds.

Both backgrounds shift sideways along the shapes of a texture while the new background fades in. The previous background shifts away as it fades out, and the new background starts shifted and moves into place. Style sets the texture, such as spots for Leopard or a grid for Boxes.

Parameters:

• _Style: Smoke, Boxes, Leopard, Melting Ice, Horizontal Fade, Clock, Cloud, Cell, Cell 2, Bubbles, Cracks, Tunnel, Waterfall, Wire, ZigZag, Paper, Vertical Fade. The pattern the swipe follows.
• _Easing: Linear, Smooth, Snappy, Strong, Bounce. The acceleration curve of the transition.

Transition Fluid Water Surface

The tile is marked PRO. It belongs to the Transition Pack add-on. Applying it installs and activates the Transition Pack for the module first, and on a site where Slider Revolution is not registered it asks for registration. Plays for 2000 milliseconds.

Both backgrounds bend up and down in flowing waves while the new background fades in. The waves in the previous background grow as it fades out, and the waves in the new background flatten to a still image. Subtle, Medium and Strong set how many waves cross the slide.

Parameters:

Transition Fluid Drop Ripples

The tile is marked PRO. It belongs to the Transition Pack add-on. Applying it installs and activates the Transition Pack for the module first, and on a site where Slider Revolution is not registered it asks for registration. Plays for 2000 milliseconds.

A circle spreads out from the center of the slide. Inside the circle, rings of ripples bend the previous background out from the center, and the new background fades in over the whole slide. Subtle, Medium and Strong set the spacing and speed of the rings.

Parameters:

• _Easing: Linear, Smooth, Snappy, Strong, Bounce. The acceleration curve of the transition. The panel opens with Linear selected.

Transition Fluid Morphs

The tile is marked PRO. It belongs to the Transition Pack add-on. Applying it installs and activates the Transition Pack for the module first, and on a site where Slider Revolution is not registered it asks for registration. Plays for 1500 milliseconds, or 1000 with Diagonal.

Each background bends along the light and dark areas of both images while the new background fades in, so bright and dark areas move in opposite directions. Vertical bends the backgrounds up and down, Horizontal bends them sideways, and Diagonal bends them on both axes with the strongest bend.

Parameters:

Transition Fluid Dreamy

The tile is marked PRO. It belongs to the Transition Pack add-on. Applying it installs and activates the Transition Pack for the module first, and on a site where Slider Revolution is not registered it asks for registration. Plays for 2600, 1500 or 900 milliseconds with Light, Medium or Strong.

Both backgrounds bend up and down in a wave that runs across the slide, with a blur along the vertical, while the new background fades in. The wave in the previous background grows as it fades out, and the wave in the new background flattens as it fades in.

Light, Medium and Strong set the strength of the blur, and Strong plays in the shortest time.

Parameters:

• _Style: Light, Medium, Strong. The panel opens with Strong selected.
• _Easing: Linear, Smooth, Snappy, Strong, Bounce. The acceleration curve of the transition.

Transition Distort Category

The Distort category holds presets that break the backgrounds into pieces, stretch them or shake them.

Transition Distort Switch

The new background is cut into three strips or a 3 by 3 grid. The outer pieces slide in from the sides while the middle ones grow from nothing, with a blur that clears, starting at the center. Plays for 1000 milliseconds.

Grid Rotate instead turns each cell of the 3 by 3 grid half a turn into place, while the previous background's cells move out, over 800 milliseconds.

Parameters:

• _Style: Columns, Rows, Grid, Grid Rotate. Columns and Rows use three strips, Grid and Grid Rotate a 3 by 3 grid. The panel opens with Grid selected.
• _Easing: Linear, Smooth, Snappy, Strong, Bounce. The acceleration curve of the transition.

Transition Distort Toss

The previous background is cut into two halves that are thrown off the slide, rotating and enlarging, one a moment after the other. It plays on top of the new background.

Underneath, the new background grows from 70% to full size while it turns from 20 degrees and moves into place. Plays for 1500 milliseconds.

Parameters:

• _Direction: Horizontal, Vertical. Horizontal cuts the previous background into two columns, Vertical into two rows.
• _Easing: Linear, Smooth, Snappy, Strong, Bounce. The acceleration curve of the transition. The panel opens with Snappy selected.

Transition Distort Corners

The slide is cut into four quarters. The new background's quarters move in from the sides at half size, turned 20 degrees, and grow into place one after another, with a blur that clears.

The previous background's quarters fade out and shrink to 80%. Plays for 1000 milliseconds.

Parameters:

• _Easing: Linear, Smooth, Snappy, Strong, Bounce. The acceleration curve of the transition.

Transition Distort Noise

The new background is cut into thin cells, 100 by 10 or 10 by 100, that fade in at twice their size from up to 200 pixels away, one after another. Plays for 910 milliseconds.

Parameters:

• _Direction: Vertical, Horizontal. Vertical moves the cells in from above and below, Horizontal from the sides.
• _Easing: Linear, Smooth, Snappy, Strong, Bounce. The acceleration curve of the transition. The panel opens with Snappy selected.

Transition Distort Shatter

The previous background first fades toward white. The new background is cut into a 30 by 30 grid of cells that shrink from five times their size while turning and moving into place, in random order.

The previous background's cells fade, grow to six times their size and turn away. Plays for 1000 milliseconds.

Parameters:

• _Easing: Linear, Smooth, Snappy, Strong, Bounce. The acceleration curve of the transition. The panel opens with Snappy selected.

Transition Distort Pull

The new background is cut into 400 thin strips, stretched to several times their size, that move into place from one side while the previous background's strips stretch and move away to the other side. The strips start from the center. Plays for 900 milliseconds.

Parameters:

• _Axis: Horizontal, Vertical. The axis the strips move along. The panel opens with Vertical selected.
• _Easing: Linear, Smooth, Snappy, Strong, Bounce. The acceleration curve of the transition.

Transition Distort Stretches

The tile is marked PRO. It belongs to the Transition Pack add-on. Applying it installs and activates the Transition Pack for the module first, and on a site where Slider Revolution is not registered it asks for registration. Plays for 1750 to 3000 milliseconds depending on Style.

Both backgrounds move across the slide by two image widths or heights, with mirrored copies of the image in a row, while they stretch along the direction of movement and blur. The stretch is strongest halfway through, and the new background fades in as it passes.

Horizontal and Elastic move sideways, and Elastic moves past the end point and back at the end. Vertical moves up or down. Twist H. and Twist V. also bend the image across the direction of movement.

Parameters:

• _Style: Horizontal, Elastic, Vertical, Twist H., Twist V. The panel opens with Vertical selected.
• _Easing: Linear, Smooth, Snappy, Strong, Bounce. The acceleration curve of the transition.

Transition Distort Skewes

The tile is marked PRO. It belongs to the Transition Pack add-on. Applying it installs and activates the Transition Pack for the module first, and on a site where Slider Revolution is not registered it asks for registration. Plays for 1500 milliseconds, or 2000 with Shake.

Both backgrounds move across the slide by several image widths or heights, with mirrored copies of the image in a row, while they skew and blur. The skew is strongest halfway through, and the new background fades in as it passes.

Horizontal moves sideways, Vertical moves up or down, and Diagonal moves on both axes. Shake adds a shake, tilt and zoom that stop at the end. Chaos distorts the image in random patterns while it moves diagonally.

Parameters:

• _Style: Horizontal, Vertical, Diagonal, Shake, Chaos. The panel opens with Vertical selected.
• _Easing: Linear, Smooth, Snappy, Strong, Bounce. The acceleration curve of the transition.

Transition Distort Motion Blur

Both backgrounds move across the slide, with mirrored copies of the image in a row and a motion blur, while the new background fades in. Vertical moves up or down by three image heights. Horizontal moves sideways by three widths, turns the image and scales it down halfway through.

Jump moves diagonally by one width and height, turns the image and scales it down halfway through. Glitch moves up or down with a glitch effect in place of the blur, and Film moves up or down with a film grain effect.

Parameters:

Transition Distort Panorama

Both backgrounds bend into a curved, fisheye projection, move across the slide by several image widths or heights with mirrored copies of the image in a row, and blur, while the new background fades in. The curve is strongest halfway through.

Vertical moves up or down and turns the image. Horizontal moves sideways. Diagonal moves on both axes and turns the image.

Parameters:

Transition Distort Chromatic

Both backgrounds split into offset red, green and blue copies along a diagonal and bend slightly in the same direction, while the new background fades in. The split is strongest halfway through.

The previous background scales down, and the new background starts enlarged and scales down to its size. Subtle, Medium and Strong set the size of the split and the amount of scaling.

Parameters:

Transition Distort Mosaic Drift

The tile is marked PRO. It belongs to the Transition Pack add-on. Applying it installs and activates the Transition Pack for the module first, and on a site where Slider Revolution is not registered it asks for registration. Plays for 1500 milliseconds.

The view pulls back to show a grid of tiles, each holding the previous or the new background turned by a quarter or half turn. The view then pans across the grid and moves in again on a tile of the new background. Soft, Medium and Strong set how many tiles it pans across.
