Slide Background Filters
Every slide in Slider Revolution has a background, usually an image, a video or a color, behind the layers placed on the slide. The Slide Background has its own animations, separate from the animations of the layers.
Layers and backgrounds are animated in the Module Editor. Essentials Mode is one of the two ways to animate them there, where animations are picked from ready-made presets instead of built keyframe by keyframe.
For the slide background, Essentials Mode has three tabs. Transition sets how the slide's background replaces the previous slide's background when the slide changes. Pan & Zoom scales and moves the background image while the slide shows.
Filter adds a visual effect, such as grain or blur, to the background while the transition plays.
This article lists every filter in the Filter tab, with what each one does and the settings it offers.
The transitions the filters play with are in Slide Background Reveal Transitions, Slide Background Motion Transitions and Slide Background Distortion Transitions, and the background image moves are in Slide Background Pan & Zoom.
The animations for added layers are described in In and Out Animations and Additional Animations.
To find the filters, go to the Module Editor and select the Slide Background, the last row of the Timeline. Then, in the Right Sidebar, click the Animation icon 1 in the Mode Switcher to enter Animation Mode.
The Transition, Pan & Zoom and Filter 2 tabs are at the top of the sidebar.

The tabs show while Essentials is chosen with the switch at the bottom of the sidebar.

Applying a preset follows the same steps in every collection, described in Animation Essentials Mode. Clicking a preset tile opens its configuration panel, where its parameters are set before Apply adds the animation to the slide background.
Filter Collection
The Filter collection holds filters that change how the slide background looks while its transition plays. The filter works with whichever transition is set, and a transition chosen later keeps it.
A filter shows only during the transition. Each filter has its own timing within the transition, given with the filter, and none stays on the slide once the transition has finished. Filters affect the slide background only, not the layers.
The configuration panel of each filter has a Strength control and no Easing or Duration. The collection has three categories: Grain & Glitch, Blur and Stylize.
Filter Grain & Glitch Category
The Grain & Glitch category holds filters that add noise, scanlines or digital glitches.

Filter Grain & Glitch None
Removes a filter set on the slide background earlier. Clicking the tile applies it directly, with no configuration panel.
Filter Grain & Glitch Glitches
Splits the background's red and blue channels apart in short bursts, with torn horizontal and vertical bands and white specks. The filter is on for the whole transition.
Parameters:
- Strength: Subtle, Medium, Strong. The largest split between the channels: about 0.7%, 1.3% or 5% of the slide. The panel opens with Medium selected.
Filter Grain & Glitch Glitch & Noise
Adds wave distortion, shaking, blocks of noise and white noise to the background. They are strongest as the transition starts and fade as it runs, and the noise clears over the last 15% of the transition.
Parameters:
- Strength: Subtle, Medium, Strong. How much of the effect is mixed in: 50% with Subtle, and 100% with Medium and Strong. The panel opens with Medium selected.
Filter Grain & Glitch Film
Adds random brightness grain and horizontal scanlines to the background. The filter is at full strength for the first 75% of the transition and fades out over the rest.
Parameters:
- Strength: Subtle, Medium, Strong. The strength of the grain and scanlines: 40%, 80% or 100%. The panel opens with Medium selected.
Filter Grain & Glitch Grain
Adds monochrome grain to the background, a new pattern 30 times a second. The grain fades in over the first 20% of the transition and out over the last 20%.
Parameters:
- Strength: Subtle, Medium, Strong. How far each pixel's brightness moves: up to about 12%, 23% or 36% up or down. The panel opens with Medium selected.
Filter Grain & Glitch Dither
Reduces the background to three levels per color channel with an ordered dot pattern. The filter starts at 30% of the transition, is strongest at 65%, and is gone by the end.
Parameters:
- Strength: Subtle, Medium, Strong. How much of the effect is mixed in: 50% with Subtle, and 100% with Medium and Strong. The panel opens with Medium selected.
Filter Blur Category
The Blur category holds filters that blur the background during the transition.

Filter Blur Motion Blur
Smears the background along one direction. The blur starts at 10% of the transition, is strongest at 50%, and is gone from 90%.
Parameters:
- Strength: Subtle, Medium, Strong. How far the blur reaches each way at its strongest: about 17%, 35% or 50% of the slide. The panel opens with Medium selected.
Filter Blur Bokeh
Blurs the whole background evenly with a round, soft-edged blur. The filter is at full strength for the first 75% of the transition and fades out over the rest.
Parameters:
- Strength: Subtle, Medium, Strong. The radius of the blur: about 0.75%, 1.5% or 2.4% of the slide's height. The panel opens with Medium selected.
Filter Stylize Category
The Stylize category holds filters that change the look of the background during the transition.

Filter Stylize Vignette
Darkens the background toward its corners, starting about halfway from the center. The filter is at full strength for the first 75% of the transition and fades out over the rest.
Parameters:
- Strength: Subtle, Medium, Strong. How dark the corners become: about 72%, 45% or 12% of their normal brightness. The panel opens with Medium selected.
Filter Stylize Chromatic
Shifts the red and blue channels of the background apart, not at all at the center and more toward the edges. The filter starts at 30% of the transition, is strongest at 65%, and is gone by the end.
Parameters:
- Strength: Subtle, Medium, Strong. The shift at the edge of the slide: about 0.9%, 1.75% or 2.8% of the slide. The panel opens with Medium selected.
Filter Stylize Posterize
Reduces each color channel of the background to six levels, so gradients turn into flat bands.
Filter Stylize Halftone
Redraws the background as black dots on white, in an 8 pixel grid, with larger dots where the image is darker.
Filter Stylize Pixelate
Redraws the background in square blocks of one color. The filter starts at 30% of the transition, is strongest at 65%, and is gone by the end.
Parameters:
- Strength: Subtle, Medium, Strong. The size of the blocks:
7,14or22pixels. The panel opens with Medium selected.
