Slide Background Motion Transitions
Every slide in Slider Revolution has a background, usually an image, a video or a color, behind the layers placed on the slide. The Slide Background has its own animations, separate from the animations of the layers.
Layers and backgrounds are animated in the Module Editor. Essentials Mode is one of the two ways to animate them there, where animations are picked from ready-made presets instead of built keyframe by keyframe.
For the slide background, Essentials Mode has three tabs. Transition sets how the slide's background replaces the previous slide's background when the slide changes. Pan & Zoom scales and moves the background image while the slide shows.
Filter adds a visual effect, such as grain or blur, to the background while the transition plays.
The Transition tab has eight categories, split across three articles by what the transition does to the background. This article lists the presets of the Slide, Zoom and 3D categories, with what each one does and the settings it offers. In these categories the backgrounds move, scale or turn.
The Fade, Cut / Reveal and Color categories are in Slide Background Reveal Transitions, and the Fluid and Distort categories are in Slide Background Distortion Transitions.
The animations for added layers are described in In and Out Animations and Additional Animations.
To find the presets, go to the Module Editor and select the Slide Background, the last row of the Timeline. Then, in the Right Sidebar, click the Animation icon 1 in the Mode Switcher to enter Animation Mode.
The Transition 2, Pan & Zoom and Filter tabs are at the top of the sidebar.

The tabs show while Essentials is chosen with the switch at the bottom of the sidebar.

Applying a preset follows the same steps in every collection, described in Animation Essentials Mode. Clicking a preset tile opens its configuration panel, where its parameters are set before Apply adds the animation to the slide background.
Transition Collection
The Transition collection holds the presets that play when the slide changes to this slide. The new background replaces the previous slide's background using the chosen transition.
The collection has eight categories: Fade, Cut / Reveal, Slide, Zoom, 3D, Fluid, Distort and Color. This article covers Slide, Zoom and 3D.
Applying a transition replaces the slide's current transition, including its length. Each preset has its own length, given with the preset, and the configuration panel has no Duration control. A filter set in the Filter tab is kept, as described in Slide Background Filters.
Many presets cut the background into strips, tiles or cells that animate one after another. In these presets, Auto follows the direction of navigation, so the transition runs one way when going to the next slide and the opposite way when going back.
Tiles marked PRO belong to the Transition Pack add-on and show on every site. Applying one installs and activates the add-on for the module first.
Transition Slide Category
The Slide category holds presets that move the backgrounds across the slide, whole or in pieces.

Transition Slide
The new background slides in across the full width or height of the slide, the previous one slides out, or both, as set by Motion. Plays for 1000 milliseconds.
Parameters:
- Motion: Over, Away, Both, Both + Fade In, Both + Fade. Over slides the new background in over the previous one, which stays in place. Away slides the previous background out, uncovering the new one. Both slides the new background in as the previous one slides out the same way. Both + Fade In also fades the new background in. Both + Fade also fades the new one in and the previous one out.
- Direction: Up, Left, Auto, Right, Down. The direction the new background travels. Auto moves it up when going to the next slide and down when going back. Clicking Auto again switches it between vertical and horizontal.
- Easing: Linear, Smooth, Snappy, Strong, Bounce. The acceleration curve of the transition.
Transition Slide Parallax
The new background slides in across the full width or height of the slide, while the previous background moves 60% of that distance the same way underneath it. Plays for 1000 milliseconds.
Parameters:
- Direction: Up, Left, Auto, Right, Down. The direction the new background travels. Auto moves it up when going to the next slide and down when going back. Clicking Auto again switches it between vertical and horizontal.
- Easing: Linear, Smooth, Snappy, Strong, Bounce. The acceleration curve of the transition.
Transition Slide Double Parallax
A band crosses the slide from the side the new background enters from. Inside the band a darkened copy of the new background passes over, and behind the band the new background shows in full while it moves the last 20% into place.
The previous background slides out along the same axis while fading out. Plays for 2000 milliseconds.
Parameters:
- Direction: Up, Left, Auto, Right, Down. The direction the new background travels. Auto moves it up when going to the next slide and down when going back. Clicking Auto again switches it between vertical and horizontal.
- Easing: Linear, Smooth, Snappy, Strong, Bounce. The acceleration curve of the transition.
Transition Slide Split Slide
The new background is cut into 5 columns or rows, and each slides in across its own width or height. Plays for 1000 milliseconds.
Parameters:
- Split: Columns, Rows. Whether the background is cut into columns or rows.
- Direction: Up, Left, Auto, Right, Down. The direction the strips travel. Auto moves them left when going to the next slide and right when going back. Clicking Auto again switches it between horizontal and vertical.
- Stagger: Starts the strips one after another instead of together. It is always on for columns that move up or down and for rows that move left or right.
- Vary: Cuts the background into 8 strips, with neighboring strips entering from opposite sides.
- Fill: Normal, Dark, Light, Blank. Normal plays the transition directly. Dark, Light and Blank first fade the previous background to black, to white or to transparent, and the new background fades in after half the duration. Shown for Columns only.
- Easing: Linear, Smooth, Snappy, Strong, Bounce. The acceleration curve of the transition.
Transition Slide Curtain
The new background is cut into 5 columns that drop in one after another, from above when going to the next slide and from below when going back. Plays for 1000 milliseconds.

- Easing: Linear, Smooth, Snappy, Strong, Bounce. The acceleration curve of the transition.
Transition Slide Boxes
The slide is cut into a 5 by 5 grid of boxes. The new background's boxes move 15% into place while growing from 80% to full size and fading in, and the previous background's boxes move 15% the opposite way while shrinking to 80% and fading.
The boxes start one after another. Plays for 1000 milliseconds.
Parameters:
- Direction: Up, Left, Auto, Right, Down, Diagonal. The direction the boxes move. Auto moves it left when going to the next slide and right when going back. Clicking Auto again switches it between horizontal and vertical. Diagonal moves them on both axes at once.
