Slide Background Reveal Transitions
Every slide in Slider Revolution has a background, usually an image, a video or a color, behind the layers placed on the slide. The Slide Background has its own animations, separate from the animations of the layers.
Layers and backgrounds are animated in the Module Editor. Essentials Mode is one of the two ways to animate them there, where animations are picked from ready-made presets instead of built keyframe by keyframe.
For the slide background, Essentials Mode has three tabs. Transition sets how the slide's background replaces the previous slide's background when the slide changes. Pan & Zoom scales and moves the background image while the slide shows.
Filter adds a visual effect, such as grain or blur, to the background while the transition plays.
The Transition tab has eight categories, split across three articles by what the transition does to the background. This article lists the presets of the Fade, Cut / Reveal and Color categories, with what each one does and the settings it offers. In these categories the new background appears in place, through opacity, a mask or a color change.
The Slide, Zoom and 3D categories are in Slide Background Motion Transitions, and the Fluid and Distort categories are in Slide Background Distortion Transitions.
The animations for added layers are described in In and Out Animations and Additional Animations.
To find the presets, go to the Module Editor and select the Slide Background, the last row of the Timeline. Then, in the Right Sidebar, click the Animation icon 1 in the Mode Switcher to enter Animation Mode.
The Transition 2, Pan & Zoom and Filter tabs are at the top of the sidebar.

The tabs show while Essentials is chosen with the switch at the bottom of the sidebar.

Applying a preset follows the same steps in every collection, described in Animation Essentials Mode. Clicking a preset tile opens its configuration panel, where its parameters are set before Apply adds the animation to the slide background.
Transition Collection
The Transition collection holds the presets that play when the slide changes to this slide. The new background replaces the previous slide's background using the chosen transition.
The collection has eight categories: Fade, Cut / Reveal, Slide, Zoom, 3D, Fluid, Distort and Color. This article covers Fade, Cut / Reveal and Color.
Applying a transition replaces the slide's current transition, including its length. Each preset has its own length, given with the preset, and the configuration panel has no Duration control. A filter set in the Filter tab is kept, as described in Slide Background Filters.
Many presets cut the background into strips, tiles or cells that animate one after another. In these presets, Auto follows the direction of navigation, so the transition runs one way when going to the next slide and the opposite way when going back.
Tiles marked PRO belong to the Transition Pack add-on and show on every site. Applying one installs and activates the add-on for the module first.
Transition Fade Category
The Fade category holds presets that fade the new background in, whole or in pieces.

Transition Fade None
Changes to the new background at once, with no visible transition. Clicking the tile applies it directly, with no configuration panel.
Transition Fade
The new background fades in from transparent over the previous one, which stays in place. Plays for 1000 milliseconds.
Parameters:
- Style: Simple, Cross. Simple fades in the new background only. Cross also fades out the previous background at the same time.
- Fill: Normal, Dark, Light, Blank. Normal plays the transition directly. Dark, Light and Blank first fade the previous background to black, to white or to transparent, and the new background fades in after half the duration.
- Easing: Linear, Smooth, Snappy, Strong, Late. The acceleration curve of the transition.
Transition Fade Gradient
The new background is cut into 30 strips that fade in one after another, so the change moves across the slide as a soft wipe. Plays for 1000 milliseconds.
Parameters:
- Direction: Up, Left, Auto, Right, Down. The direction the wipe moves across the slide. Auto runs it downward when going to the next slide and upward when going back. Clicking Auto again switches it between vertical and horizontal.
- Easing: Linear, Smooth, Snappy, Strong, Late. The acceleration curve of the transition.
Transition Fade Radial Fade
The new background is cut into a 30 by 30 grid of cells. Each cell fades in while scaling down from 110% to 100%, one after another from the center outward, or from the edges inward. Plays for 1000 milliseconds.
Parameters:
- Style: Out, In. Out starts at the center and spreads to the edges. In starts at the edges and moves to the center.
- Fill: Normal, Dark, Light, Blank. Normal plays the transition directly. Dark, Light and Blank first fade the previous background to black, to white or to transparent, and the new background fades in after half the duration.
- Easing: Linear, Smooth, Snappy, Strong, Bounce. The acceleration curve of the transition.
Transition Fade Tiled Fade
The new background is cut into a 6 by 6 grid of tiles. Each tile fades in while scaling down from 110% to 100%, one after another in the chosen order. Plays for 1000 milliseconds.
Parameters:
- Order: Auto, From Top Left, From Bottom Right, From Center, From Edges, Random. The tile that starts first. Auto starts at the bottom right when going to the next slide and at the top left when going back.
Transition Fade Zoom Fade
The new background is cut into a grid of cells. Each cell fades in while growing from 10% to 100%, and moves into place from up to 10 pixels away and up to 10 degrees of rotation. Plays for 1000 milliseconds.
Parameters:
- Origin: Out, In. Out starts at the center and spreads to the edges. In starts at the edges and moves to the center.
- Detail: Medium, Strong. The size of the grid: 8 by 8 cells, or 20 by 20.
- Easing: Linear, Smooth, Snappy, Strong, Bounce. The acceleration curve of the transition.
Transition Fade Cross Fade
The new background is cut into a grid of cells that fade in while changing size. How the cells scale, and in what order, is set by Style.
Together grows 5 by 5 cells from nothing to full size, all at once. Shrink In shrinks them from 120% to full size from the center outward, while the previous background's cells fade out and shrink to half size.
Grow Out grows the cells from 50% to full size from the center outward, while the previous background's cells fade out and grow to 130%. From Edges and From Center shrink 20 by 20 cells from four times their size, starting at the edges or at the center.
Plays for 1000 milliseconds, or 910 for From Edges and From Center.
Parameters:
- Style: Together, Shrink In, Grow Out, From Edges, From Center. How the cells scale and in what order.
- Easing: Linear, Smooth, Snappy, Strong, Bounce. The acceleration curve of the transition.
Transition Fade Shockwave
The new background is cut into a 17 by 17 grid of cells that fade in from the edges of the slide toward the center. Each cell starts enlarged, rotated and moved out of place, and moves to its position at full size while the previous background fades out.
Cells nearest the edges start up to eight times their size and 20 degrees and 20 pixels out of place, and cells in the middle band start closest to their final state. Plays for 1500 milliseconds.
Parameters:
- Easing: Linear, Smooth, Snappy, Strong, Bounce. The acceleration curve of the transition.
Transition Fade Dynamic Burn
The tile is marked PRO. It belongs to the Transition Pack add-on. Applying it installs and activates the Transition Pack for the module first, and on a site where Slider Revolution is not registered it asks for registration. Plays for 1500 milliseconds.
The new background shows through the previous one along a burn pattern. Melt Over opens soft, cloud-shaped patches that spread until they cover the slide. Burn Swipe moves a ragged, glowing edge from left to right across the slide.
Burn Over shows a bright, washed-out image with glowing round holes across it, and the holes close until the new background shows in full color.
Parameters:
- Style: Melt Over, Burn Swipe, Burn Over.
- Easing: Linear, Smooth, Snappy, Strong, Bounce. The acceleration curve of the transition.
