How to Update via FTP

In the event you need to update your installation of Slider Revolution using FTP, here’s how.

Updating via FTP

In certain circumstances you may with to update your installation of Slider Revolution via FTP. For example, if you are replacing a theme bundled version, or if you urgently need an update prior to it becoming officially available.

If your existing installation is a significantly older version of Slider Revolution, you should not use FTP to update. Please only use FTP to update if you have been advised it’s safe by our support team.

Step 1: Backup your modules. (Optional)

Updating via FTP should not cause any loss of data, given modules are stored in your WordPress database.

However, for peace of mind you may wish to begin by downloading a copy of your wp-content/plugins/revslider directory. If there are any unexpected issues you can restore this folder.

Step 2: Login to to your member dashboard at https://account.sliderrevolution.com.

If you have any trouble accessing your account, see What are My Account’s Username and Password? for help.

Step 3: In the top right corner of the Slider Revolution area, click Download Plugin.

You’ll be prompted to download a zip file that contains the Slider Revolution plugin. Go ahead and save that zip file somewhere easy to find on your computer.

Step 4: Replace the plugin files via FTP.

Using your preferred FTP client, delete the files and folders inside your current installation’s wp-content/plugins/revslider directory.

Replace them with the contents of the revslider directory of the zip you just downloaded.

Step 5: Finally, refresh the plugin dashboard and check that the “Installed Version” shows the version you were intending to update to.
