Modal Actions

Modal Actions

Two Modal actions open one module as a popup and close it again, each with its own panel, where the trigger, the target module and the timing are set.

Modal Actions

In the Right Sidebar click the Action icon to enter Action Mode, click Add New Action, then in the Action Settings Panel open the Type dropdown and choose an action from the Modal group:

  • Modal Actions
    • Open Modal Panel
      • Type
      • Event
      • Trigger
      • Modal Section
        • Module
        • Slide
      • Timing Section
        • Delay
        • Next Delay
    • Close Modal Panel
      • Type
      • Event
      • Trigger
      • Modal Section
        • Module
      • Timing Section
        • Delay
        • Next Delay

Modal actions are accessed by going to the Module Editor, then in the Right Sidebar clicking the Action icon 1 to enter Action Mode, clicking Add New Action 2, and in the Action Settings Panel setting Type 3 to Open Modal or Close Modal.

These two Modal actions let one module open another module as a popup over the page, and close it again. This is how a gallery, a contact form or a video can be shown on top of the current page without navigating away from it.

Open Modal Panel

The Open Modal panel configures which module opens as a popup over the page, and what triggers it to open.

Type (Dropdown)

Sets which action is performed when the trigger fires. Choosing Open Modal is what brings up the Modal section below, where the module to open is selected.

Event (Tab Select)

Sets which visitor interaction with the trigger layers opens the modal.

Options:

  • Click: Opens the modal when a trigger layer is clicked or tapped.
  • Enter: Opens the modal when the pointer moves over a trigger layer.
  • Leave: Opens the modal when the pointer moves off a trigger layer.

Trigger (Multi-select)

Selects the layer or layers that open the modal. The list is searchable, and any number of the current slide's layers can be selected.

Modal Section (Expander)

In the Modal section choose the module that opens as a popup, and which of its slides it opens on.

Module (Dropdown)

  • Visible when Modal section is expanded.
  • Hidden when Modal section is collapsed.

Selects the module to open as a modal. Any module in the installation can be chosen and nothing has to be enabled on it beforehand. The list is searchable and shows each module's type in brackets after its name.

Slide (Dropdown)

  • Visible when Modal section is expanded.
  • Hidden when Modal section is collapsed.

Selects which slide of the chosen module the modal opens on. The list is populated from the module chosen in Module, so it stays empty until that is set.

Timing Section (Expander)

In the Timing section set the pauses that surround the action, so that a sequence of actions can be staggered rather than all firing at once.

Delay (Number, milliseconds)

  • Visible when Timing section is expanded.
  • Hidden when Timing section is collapsed.

Sets how long to wait after the event fires before the modal opens. A value of 0 opens it immediately.

Next Delay (Number, milliseconds)

  • Visible when Timing section is expanded.
  • Hidden when Timing section is collapsed.

Sets a pause measured from this action, before the next action on the same trigger runs.

Close Modal Panel

The Close Modal panel configures which open modal is closed, and what triggers it to closed. It is most often used on a close button inside the module that was opened as a modal.

Type (Dropdown)

Sets which action is performed when the trigger fires. Choosing Close Modal is what brings up the Modal section below, where the modal to close is selected.

Event (Tab Select)

Sets which visitor interaction with the trigger layers closes the modal.

Options:

  • Click: Closes the modal when a trigger layer is clicked or tapped.
  • Enter: Closes the modal when the pointer moves over a trigger layer.
  • Leave: Closes the modal when the pointer moves off a trigger layer.

Trigger (Multi-select)

Selects the layer or layers that close the modal. The list is searchable, and any number of the current slide's layers can be selected.

Modal Section (Expander)

In the Modal section choose which open modal is closed.

Module (Dropdown)

  • Visible when Modal section is expanded.
  • Hidden when Modal section is collapsed.

Selects the modal to close. As well as naming a specific module, the list offers two options that close whatever is currently open without naming it.

Options:

  • All Opened Modal: Closes every module currently open as a modal.
  • Current Focused Modal: Closes the modal that currently has focus.

Timing Section (Expander)

In the Timing section set the pauses that surround the action, so that a sequence of actions can be staggered rather than all firing at once.

Delay (Number, milliseconds)

  • Visible when Timing section is expanded.
  • Hidden when Timing section is collapsed.

Sets how long to wait after the event fires before the modal closes. A value of 0 closes it immediately.

Next Delay (Number, milliseconds)

  • Visible when Timing section is expanded.
  • Hidden when Timing section is collapsed.

Sets a pause measured from this action, before the next action on the same trigger runs.
