The Slides Sidebar is accessed by going to the Module Editor, then the Top Bar, then clicking the Slides button 1.

In the Slides Sidebar you manage the module's slides: add, import, duplicate, reorder, rename and delete them, switch between them for editing, and open each slide's own settings for its thumbnails, timing, visibility, scheduling, parameters, attributes and accessibility. The Static Slide, whose layers appear on every slide, sits at the top of the list with settings of its own.

Slide List Section

The list holds the Static Slide followed by the module's slides in playback order, with the Add Slide and Import Slide buttons beneath them.

Static Slide

The Static Slide is a slide whose layers are shown on top of, or behind, every other slide in the module, for elements such as a logo or a menu that should stay put while the slides change. Click it to select it and edit its layers on the stage. It has no thumbnail, cannot be reordered, renamed, duplicated or deleted, and its gear icon opens the Static Slide Settings panel rather than the Slide Settings panel.

Slides

Each slide is listed with its position number, its thumbnail and its name, and the slide currently being edited is highlighted. Click a slide to select it and edit it on the stage. Hovering a slide reveals its four action icons, Duplicate, Delete, Preview and Slide Settings, each described below.

Reordering Slides

Drag a slide by its position number to move it up or down the list. The numbers renumber as you drop it, and the new order is the order the slides play in.

Renaming a Slide

Double click a slide's name to edit it in place, then press Enter or click away to keep the new name. A slide with no name of its own is listed as Slide.

Preview (Button)

Opens a preview of the module in a new browser tab, starting on this slide. Pressing CTRL + SPACE, or ⌘ + SPACE on a Mac, previews the current slide the same way.

Slide Settings (Button)

Opens the Slide Settings panel beside the slide, described below.

Delete (Button)

Removes the slide from the module. The last remaining slide cannot be deleted. A deleted slide can be brought back with Undo in the Top Bar.

Duplicate (Button)

Adds a copy of the slide, with all of its layers, directly after it. When the slide carries slide actions or custom scenes, a dialog first asks whether to copy those across as well.

Add Slide (Button)

Adds a new blank slide at the end of the list and selects it. Hold SHIFT while clicking to add several slides at once: the WordPress media library opens, and one slide is created for each image chosen, with that image as its background. The button reads Add Slide(s) while SHIFT is held.

Import Slide (Button)

Opens the Select Module window listing every module on the site. Choose a module, then one of its slides, to copy that slide and its layers into this module as a new slide. One slide is imported at a time.

Slide Settings Panel

The Slide Settings panel opens beside a slide when its Slide Settings icon is clicked, and holds six tabs of settings that belong to that slide alone. Opening the settings of another slide, or of the Static Slide, closes it.

Thumbnail Tab

In the Thumbnail tab choose the images that represent the slide in the editor and in navigation.

Admin Thumbnail Section (Image Select)

The image shown for the slide in the Slides Sidebar and in the Module Overview. Hover the box to choose an image from the WordPress media library or from the Slider Revolution Elements library, or to clear the image. When none is set, a thumbnail is generated from the slide's background.

Navigation Thumbnail Section (Image Select)

The image shown for the slide in thumbnail and tab navigation. Hover the box to choose an image from the WordPress media library or from the Slider Revolution Elements library, or to clear the image. When none is set, the slide's background is used. In a module built from posts, each slide's thumbnail is taken from the post's featured image, and a post without one falls back to the image set here.

Optimized Size (Dropdown)

Sets which version of the Navigation Thumbnail image is loaded on the page.

Options:

  • Navigation Preview: Loads a reduced copy sized for navigation, which keeps the page lighter.
  • Original Media Size: Loads the image at its full uploaded size.

Progress Tab

In the Progress tab set how long the slide stays on screen and when it is skipped.

Slide Duration Section

Slide Duration (Number, milliseconds)

How long the slide is shown before the slideshow moves on, in milliseconds, from 500 to 300000. Left empty, the slide uses the module's Default Slide Duration from the SlideShow, Order & Progress panel, shown in brackets in the field.

Pause Module (Toggle)

Stops the slideshow when it reaches this slide, so that it does not advance until the visitor moves on.

Options:

  • On: The slideshow pauses on this slide.
  • Off: The slide advances after its duration like any other.

Visibility Section

Hide from Navigation (Toggle)

Leaves the slide out of the module's navigation, so it has no bullet, tab or thumbnail, while it still plays in sequence.

Options:

  • On: The slide is hidden from navigation.
  • Off: The slide appears in navigation.

Hide on Mobile (Toggle)

Skips the slide entirely when the module is viewed on a mobile device.

Options:

  • On: The slide is skipped on mobile.
  • Off: The slide is shown on every device.

Hide After "n" Loops (Number)

Skips the slide once the slideshow has looped through the module the given number of times, from 0 to 500. At 0 the slide is never skipped.

Scheduling Tab

In the Scheduling tab control whether and when the slide is shown to visitors.

Publish Section

Status (Dropdown)

Sets whether the slide is included in the module on the page. An unpublished slide stays in the editor but is not output.

Options:

  • Published: The slide is shown on the page.
  • Unpublished: The slide is kept in the editor but not shown on the page.

Schedule Section (Toggle)

Limits the slide to a date range, and optionally to certain days of the week.

Options:

  • On: The slide is shown only within the schedule below.
  • Off: The slide is shown at all times, subject to its Status.

From (Timestamp)

  • Visible when Schedule toggled to On.
  • Hidden when Schedule toggled to Off.

The date and time from which the slide is shown. Click the field to pick the date from a calendar.

To (Timestamp)

  • Visible when Schedule toggled to On.
  • Hidden when Schedule toggled to Off.

The date and time after which the slide is no longer shown. Click the field to pick the date from a calendar.

Only on (Multi-select)

  • Visible when Schedule toggled to On.
  • Hidden when Schedule toggled to Off.

Restricts the slide to the checked days of the week. With nothing checked, the slide is shown on every day within the date range. The day is worked out in the site's timezone when the page is built, so a page held in a cache can keep showing the previous day's slides until the cache refreshes.

Options:

  • Monday: The slide is shown on Mondays.
  • Tuesday: The slide is shown on Tuesdays.
  • Wednesday: The slide is shown on Wednesdays.
  • Thursday: The slide is shown on Thursdays.
  • Friday: The slide is shown on Fridays.
  • Saturday: The slide is shown on Saturdays.
  • Sunday: The slide is shown on Sundays.

Parameters Tab

In the Parameters tab store a description and a set of text parameters with the slide.

Description Section

Slide Description (Text Area)

A free text description stored with the slide.

Parameters Section

Slide parameters are short pieces of text stored on the slide and placed into its layers with the matching {{param}} placeholder, so that one layout can carry different text on each slide.

Add Parameters (Button)

Adds a new parameter row to the list, numbered in order.

Parameter (Text)

  • Visible when at least one parameter has been added with Add Parameters.
  • Hidden when the slide has no parameters.

The parameter's text. The number beside the field is the parameter's position, which is the number used in its placeholder.

Cut at (Number)

  • Visible when at least one parameter has been added with Add Parameters.
  • Hidden when the slide has no parameters.

The number of characters of the parameter's text to keep when it is placed in a layer. Text beyond that length is cut off.

Delete Parameter (Button)

  • Visible when at least one parameter has been added with Add Parameters.
  • Hidden when the slide has no parameters.

Removes the parameter row.

Attributes Tab

In the Attributes tab set the HTML attributes written onto the slide's element on the page.

HTML ID (Text)

An id attribute for the slide's element, for targeting it from custom CSS or scripts.

HTML Class (Text)

One or more class names for the slide's element, separated by spaces.

HTML Data (Text)

Custom data- attributes for the slide's element, written as they should appear in the HTML.

A name that opens the module directly on this slide when the page URL ends with # followed by that name.

Attribute (Text)

Any further attributes for the slide's element, written as they should appear in the HTML.

Accessibility Tab

In the Accessibility tab set how the slide is presented to screen readers. The tab draws on the module wide choices made in the Settings Sidebar's Accessibility Panel.

ARIA Attributes Section

  • Visible when Enable ARIA Attributes is toggled to On in the module's Accessibility Panel.
  • Hidden when Enable ARIA Attributes is toggled to Off in the module's Accessibility Panel.

Per slide overrides of the ARIA attributes written onto the slide's element.

Hide from Screen Readers (Dropdown)

  • Visible when ARIA Attributes section is visible.
  • Hidden when ARIA Attributes section is hidden.

Sets whether screen readers are told to ignore the slide.

Options:

  • True: The slide is hidden from screen readers.
  • False: The slide is always exposed to screen readers.
  • Visible if Focused: The slide is exposed to screen readers only while it is the current slide.

Semantic Role (Dropdown)

  • Visible when ARIA Attributes section is visible.
  • Hidden when ARIA Attributes section is hidden.

Sets the ARIA role announced for the slide.

Options:

  • Unset: No role is written.
  • Group: The slide is announced as a group of related content.
  • Presentation: The slide is treated as purely presentational.
  • Region: The slide is announced as a landmark region.
  • Article: The slide is announced as a self contained article.

Role Description (Text)

  • Visible when ARIA Attributes section is visible.
  • Hidden when ARIA Attributes section is hidden.

The wording a screen reader uses for the slide's role, slide by default.

Label (Text)

  • Visible when ARIA Attributes section is visible.
  • Hidden when ARIA Attributes section is hidden.

The accessible name announced for the slide. At auto a name is generated from the slide.

Live Announcement Text Section

  • Visible when Announce Slide Changes (ARIA-Live) is toggled to On in the module's Accessibility Panel.
  • Hidden when Announce Slide Changes (ARIA-Live) is toggled to Off in the module's Accessibility Panel.

Title (Text)

  • Visible when Live Announcement Text section is visible.
  • Hidden when Live Announcement Text section is hidden.

The text read out by screen readers when the module changes to this slide. At auto the slide's name is used.

Module Accessibility Settings (Button)

  • Visible when Announce Slide Changes (ARIA-Live) is toggled to Off in the module's Accessibility Panel.
  • Hidden when Announce Slide Changes (ARIA-Live) is toggled to On in the module's Accessibility Panel.

Opens the module's Accessibility Panel in the Settings Sidebar, where slide change announcements are switched on.

Static Slide Settings Panel

The Static Slide Settings panel opens beside the Static Slide when its gear icon is clicked.

Static Slide Settings Section

Overflow Visible (Toggle)

Lets static layers extend beyond the module's edges instead of being cut off at them.

Options:

  • On: Static layers that reach past the module's edges stay visible.
  • Off: Static layers are clipped at the module's edges.

Static Slide Position (Dropdown)

Sets whether the static layers sit in front of or behind the layers of the slide being shown.

Options:

  • Above All Slides: Static layers are drawn over every slide's layers.
  • Behind All Slides: Static layers are drawn beneath every slide's layers.

Static Slide Behavior (Editor) Section

These two settings affect only the editor, not the published module.

Visibility in Editor (Toggle)

Shows the static layers on the stage while a normal slide is being edited, so their place among the slide's layers can be judged.

Options:

  • On: Static layers are shown on the stage while editing other slides.
  • Off: Static layers are shown only while the Static Slide is selected.

Reference Slide Layers (Dropdown)

Chooses a slide whose layers are shown on the stage for reference while the Static Slide is being edited, so static layers can be positioned against real content. The list holds the module's slides.

Options:

  • No Reference Slide: Only the static layers are shown while editing the Static Slide.

Keyboard Shortcuts

Three shortcuts apply to the Slides Sidebar, and they are listed under Slides & Lists in the Shortcuts panel opened from the Settings Sidebar.

  • Double click on a slide's name: Renames it in place.
  • SHIFT + Add Slide: Adds multiple slides at once, one per image chosen from the media library.
  • CTRL + SPACE, or ⌘ + SPACE on a Mac: Previews the current slide in a new browser tab.
