The fundamentals of using Slider Revolution.

Skin Based Color Schemes

Learn how to create editable color schemes using the Global Color Skin system.

What is a Global Color Skin?

A “skin” is a color that has been given a name and saved along with a module [?] A module in Slider Revolution acts as a container for slides, which in turn act as containers for layers. Modules are created and edited with the module editor.

A "module" is a single, self contained piece of content. You can think of this as being similar to the way a post or page in regular WordPress is a self contained piece of content.

A module can represent any kind of content Slider Revolution is capable of creating, such as a slider, carousel, hero unit, navigation menu, posts display and so on.

Multiple modules can be combined to form rich content such as complete sites and landing pages.
. That color then becomes globally available throughout the module and can be applied anywhere.

When a skin color is applied throughout a design, if it is later updated the color will change in every place it’s used. And what’s really cool is that as you experiment you’ll see every instance of the color update in real time:

Applying Skin Colors

A skin color can be applied anywhere color is normally used, and is applied via the color selection dialogue box

To enable use of a skin color, toggle the COLOR SKIN ACTIVE option at the bottom of the color selection box to ON:

A dropdown will appear, from which you can choose any of the colors in your current list of skins:

Note: Gradient skin colors won’t appear in the list if they cannot be used, e.g. when setting a text color.

Editing the Skin List

By default there are three skin colors saved in every module. These skins can each be edited, and new skins can be added, through the Global Color Skin editor.

Opening the Global Color Skin Editor

There are two ways to open the Global Color Skin editor.

The first is to go to the Module General Options tab, and click the Skin sub-section:

This will make the Global Color Skin editor pop up:

The second way is through the color selection dialogue box. When you have COLOR SKIN ACTIVE set to ON, you will also see an Edit Skin List button:

Clicking that button lets you jump straight into the Global Color Skin editor. Be aware, however, that in doing so you will lose any unsaved changes to the color you were editing.

Updating Skin Titles

To change a skin’s title, edit the text in the left most field for that skin, under the SKIN TITLE header:

The changes will be automatically saved.

Updating Skin Colors

To update a skin color, click the color swatch to the right of its title:

A version of the color selection box will appear, in which you can choose your new color:

When you’ve selected a new color, be sure to click the large checkmark button to apply your changes.

Note: The first skin in the list, titled “Highlight” by default, cannot be set to a gradient. All other skins can use flat or gradient colors.

Adding Skins

To add a new skin, click the Add Skin button at the bottom right corner of the skin editor:

A new skin will appear, ready for you to edit with a new title and color:

Deleting Skins

To delete a skin, click the garbage can icon on its right:

You can delete any skin except the first.

If you attempt to delete a skin that is in use you will receive a warning:

If you then continue and delete the skin, the layers [?] Layers are containers for visual, audio or layout items and are added to slides. For example, text, button, image, audio, video, group and row are all types of layers.

Layers are added to slides via the module editor.
that used it will stay the same color, but will just no longer be connected to the skin system.

Show Skin Editor on Launch

If you plan to make a design for reuse, you can have the Global Color Skin editor open on launch so you can configure a new color scheme immediately.

To use this feature, toggle the Show this Modal on Editor launch option at the bottom of the skin editor to ON:
